In Washington State, you have free access to a physical therapist. You are not required by state law to have a physician's order to obtain physical therapy services. BUT... most insurance companies state that a physician's order for physical therapy is required in order to use your insurance benefits. Depending on your situation and your physican, you may be able to ask your physician for an order for physical therapy over the phone. It is not unusual for us to receive a faxed physician order. In other situations, your physician may require you to be evaluated in their office in order to obtain a physician's order for physical therapy.
